Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Vivian Weinstein-Brisman lived in New Jersey for 30 years and relocated to South Florida in June, 2021. She has been painting and creating art for most of her adult life. Although trained and worked as a speech pathologist she has always been drawn to color and art, and this is now her full-time occupation. She explores mostly representational images. Among her themes are realistic portraits (people and animals), still lives, landscapes and flowers, as well as imaginative renderings. Color, line and design are keys to her expression. She is a multimedia artist who as of late works primarily in oils. Vivian has shown her work in many venues including one person shows at the JCC on the Palisades in 2008 (Tenafly, New Jersey) and the Rio II Gallery in New York City in 2007. She has also displayed her art in several group shows including the Open Juried Shows at the Ridgewood, New Jersey Art Institute in 2016 and 2017, the Hopper House in Nyack, NY, the Belskie Museum in Closter, New Jersey, the Artists' Beit Midrash in Teaneck, New Jersey and professional offices and restaurants in New York City and New Jersey. Vivian showed a group of paintings of flowers and still lives at the Tenafly, NJ Library in November and December 2017. She has sold her work to private collectors in the USA and abroad. Vivian relocated to the Miami, Fla. area in 2021, where she has been creating, painting and exhibiting in various group shows.
Artist Statement
I have always loved animals, they are a major inspiration for the work that I do. I find inspiration in all kinds of creatures, both domestic and wildlife, big, small, or in between. I like to draw attention to a moment in time, an emotion, or a special quality that deserves attention in animal life. This relates to all the art that I create – portraits, landscapes, and still life. I sometimes find that I can express something better through one of these genres, so they are a part of my art repertoire as well. My work expresses my connection with our environment. I have a need to create – to take something that exists in the real world and I combine it with my imagination to create a piece of art.
When people enjoy my work, it makes me happy.
